The Food Industries Center is a unit of the Department of Food Science and Technology at The Ohio State University specializing in technical, scientific and educational services for the food industry. It is located on the main campus of OSU, Columbus Ohio. It was established early in the 1960’s to support and advance the food industry in Ohio and nationally.
The Food Industries Center (FIC) offers a wide variety of fee-based services for the food industry such as the use of pilot plant equipment, research and new product development contracts, food sensory analysis, short courses, and other related services. The FIC pilot plants are fully equipped for product and process development of dairy, beverage, fruits and vegetables, bakery, pasta, and meats. The clients of the FIC often consult with and Richter International on food safety and processing concerns while Richter International has utilized pilot plant capabilities of the FIC.
